DigitalOptometrics is an Optometrist founded, Optometrist driven, Patient-centric, fully integrated, high performance synchronous telehealth service model.

As the tele-optometry ‘provider of choice’, DigitalOptometrics leads the market as the proven telehealth partner bringing a scaled, patient-centric, OD-driven, fully integrated service offering to the vision market.

The DigitalOptometics remote eye exam system aims to replicate an “on-site in-person” exam by facilitating remote comprehensive eye health and vision exams, performed by licensed Optometrists who communicate live via hi-definition video conference with each and every patient.

Our system differs from other telehealth optical systems primarily because it consists of a comprehensive eye health and vision analysis that includes subjective refraction and allows for live voice and visual communication between the remote optometrist and patient.

Our History

2016

Dr. Howard Fried is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University and The State University of New York, College of Optometry. In 2016, Dr. Fried formed DigitalOptometrics and assembled a team of optical software development specialists under his direction to design a solution to several issues confronting the optometry field including patient access to a comprehensive eye health exam at the convenience of patients. After two years of development, Dr. Fried and his team harnessed new advancements in technology to introduce Tele-Optometry by DigitalOptometrics.

2018

In the spring of 2018, Dr. Fried and his hand-picked team of leading industry veterans debuted the DigitalOptometrics technology at the Vision Expo in New York City.

2022

DigitalOptometrics’ exciting growth continues. We have established ourselves as the leaders in Tele-Optometry and are pioneering a new frontier in eye exams by providing access to care to patients and opportunities to optometrists and optical providers. DigitalOptometrics system is now utilized in more than 30 states in the U.S and Canada with monthly geographic expansion, performing over thousands of exams per day by the end of 2022. Providing a comprehensive remote eye exam experience to over 1 Million patients inclusive of all generational, social/economic, and cultural demographics.

The Process

The DigitalOptometics remote eye exam system replicates an “on-site in-person” exam by facilitating remote comprehensive eye health and vision exams, performed by licensed Optometrists who communicate live via hi-definition video conference with each and every optometric patient.

It’s an eye exam that begins with a patient entering information and medical history on a computer tablet, the gathering of patient eye data from ten (10) health and vision analysis tests including visual eye refraction by a qualified Ophthalmic Technician using the capabilities of the internet with high-definition video conferencing and remote operated optical equipment.

All of the patient data is then reviewed remotely by a licensed Optometrist. The Optometrist can, if necessary, further refine the corrective lens findings remotely and will review the results of the optical exam and answer patient questions by video conferencing. At the conclusion of the exam, the patient is issued, if necessary, a new corrective prescription for glasses or contacts or may be referred to a specialist based upon the findings of the doctor.

Our advanced proprietary optical software creates a seamless process from patient data gathering to the writing of and delivery to the patients prescriptions all within 30 minutes.
